This upcoming Saturday, Scottish Wrestling Alliance return to the Concert Hall in Motherwell for their annual Battlezone event. However, this year is special, as it is the biggest Battlezone match ever. 40 competitors will face in the over-the-top-rope battle royal to determine the new #1 contender for the Zero1 Scottish Championship. Already throwing their names into the mix are SWA Tag Team Champions - The Forgotten, and Tom Fulton, who says that his time in the ring is coming to an end, and he vows to win the Battlezone and go on to challenge the Zero1 Scottish Champion on the very same night. The reigning champ, Joe Coffey, won this match last year, after opening the show with a phenomenal match against Rampage Brown. This is a sheer lottery to choose a winner but the among the favorites must be Rampage Brown, who was the last eliminated last year, and with no Joe Coffey this time around, this may be a great opportunity for him to go one better.

Before that though, Brown has stated that at the event, he is issuing an open challenge for anyone on the SWA roster to come out and face him. It's hard to say for sure who may answer the challenge, but for me, I think it's likely that Grado may be the man. It's quite surprising that he isn't already confirmed for a match despite being confirmed to appear and if he was to show up as a surprise opponent, the roof may just be blown off the Motherwell Concert Hall. Another possible opponent may come in the form of Mark Coffey, who recently showed a change in attitude after a loss to Jack Gallagher, and he may step up to show the SWA fans just what he's capable of.

On the topic of Jack Gallagher. The man who is affectionately known as "Ginge" will take on one of the most dangerous men in wrestling - former Zero1 Scottish Champion, Mikey Whiplash, in a 2 out of 3 falls match. Due to injury, Mikey's original opponent for the night, SWA co-owner John "The Bomb" Graham, had to withdraw from the match. Instead, we'll get treated to one of the best pure wrestling matches we're ever likely to see, this will be a match not to be missed! This is also a rematch of sorts from last year's event, when Whiplash defended the Zero1 Scottish title against Gallagher and Jackie Polo. Whiplash played dirty to retain the title that time, and Gallagher will be out to look for some revenge.

Robbie Solar will take on John Gresham in what is something of an unknown quantity of a match. Solar is a highly talented high flyer who has been unlucky with injuries over the past couple of years, he is now on the road back to full fitness though and will prove a tough adversary for Gresham, who I've admittedly not saw a lot of. From a match I've watched on youtube though, the guy is really flexible in terms of styles. Seems to enjoy a good striking match as well as being really agile. Should make for an interesting match.

A long time rivalry will continue when Fiona Fraser sees over proceedings as special guest referee for the match between her enemy Viper and Sammii Jayne. It's unlikely that this match will end in a clean manner, considering the bad blood between Viper and Fraser. This should be a cracking bout either way, as both Jayne and Viper are great wrestlers, and it shouldn't fail to deliver (even with a bit of biased officiating...).

Finally, Joe Coffey will defend his Zero1 Scottish Championship against well-traveled former TNA superstar Doug Williams. Make no mistake about it, this is no exhibition match. Williams has faced the likes of Ric Flair, AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan and is very much a threat to Joe's reign as champ. Coffey is a great champ though, and will prove tough to beat. This should be an excellent match between two of the very best the UK has produced, and will no doubt be the exclamation point on what is set to be a fantastic night.

Tickets are very much still available, and can be bought from the websites below, or indeed you can pay at the door. Either way, get yourselves down for what will no doubt be a great night of wrestling. See you all there!
