ICW: 1.21 Gigawatts, Great Scott! Preview

Well, it's time for this impressive run of shows to come to an end. This coming Sunday will be the sixth consecutive Sunday that has hosted an ICW show. Starting with Shug's House Party at the 02 ABC in Glasgow, and then going on a 4 week run in Studio 24 in Edinburgh throughout the Fringe Festival. This Sunday sees the sixth and final show in the run, with ICW returning to the Garage for what, in my opinion, is shaping up to be one of their best cards of the year. Also noteworthy that this is 6 from 6 shows that have SOLD OUT in the past month, with Spacebaws and Fear and Loathing likely to follow in no time. Taking over brotha! So lets just dive in heid first, kicking off with what's due to be an absolute stoater...

Liam Thomson & Carmel vs Stevie Boy & Kay Lee Ray

A battle of the power couples here. Thomson and Carmel have been on a great run in ICW recently, showing how comfortable they are with their current standing, and even refusing to join the NAK at one point. Stevie and Kay Lee are two of the best performers in the country, and never fail to deliver. This will probably be a match of the night contender, and considering this card is packed with unadulterated brawness, I'm expecting nothing less than brilliance. So will the smash mouth style of Thomson and Carmel prevail? Or will it be the high-flying Stevie and KLR who grab the spoils? At this moment in time, I'm inclined to go with Thomson and Carmel. After losing his I Quit match to Kid Fite last month and fighting out a time limit draw against the same opponent this last Sunday, Thomson will be looking to get right back on track, and with the devious Carmel by his side, it's looks fairly possible.

BT Gunn vs Wolfgang (Dog-Collar Match)

Oh aye. This will be the bollocks. Sorry Kenny pal, but this match will be deserving of borrowing yer nickname for a wee while. These two cousins don't fuckin' like each other at all, not even a wee bit. They've tried on numerous occasions to kill each other over the past year or so, and now you chain them to each other for a full match? Combustible situation, and this shit will combust. If you want to watch this match and expect a wrestling clinic, away for a drink, because this will be about one thing - fuckin HURT. At this point, you have to expect big Wolfgang to gain proper retribution for the attempted murder of him in London. He still has a headache from being stomped onto that chair. Bear wi a sair heid comes to mind, only on this occasion, the bear is actually a wolf, and he's hungry for revenge. Wolfgang to beat BT, then swing him about with the chain and throw him like a fruit pastels packet wi only the blackcurrant ones left in it right inty the Clyde.

Grado vs Chris Renfrew (Square Go Briefcase on the line)

This would be just lovely eh? A long time coming for Grado to rightly get a shot at taking the briefcase off Renfrew that rightly belongs to him. I've made up about two hunner ideas about how this could potentially work, spanning from a Dickie Divers face turn on Renfrew... all the way to a Grado heel turn. Neither is really an option, realistically, but it's fun to have ideas. Expect Renfrew to dominate for the most part here. He fucking hates Grado. He hates his daft hat, singlet and dance routine. He hates his entrance music, and he most certainly hates that Grado has the audacity to try and take this briefcase from him. He'll want to embarrass Grado. As usual, the never say die attitude of the Stevenson Dream will put him into the driver seat, but ultimately, Renfrew will keep his title shot intact after some NAK based shenanigans.

Drew Galloway vs Darkside (Winner gets a title shot at Fear and Loathing)

I canny wait for this. Drew in a match in ICW for the first time in all these years. Against the man who defeated Drew for the ICW Heavyweight Title on Drew's last night in the company before heading to WWE. Wrestling wise, this will be terrific. Especially seeing as these two are both powerful fuckers and technically gifted wrestlers. Expect plenty of suplexing, DDTing, submission holding and fully expect to see the Chosen One have his hand raised when all is said and done. No way will he let a potential title opportunity slip through his fingers. He wants the ICW Heavyweight Title, and I for one can't think of anyone capable of stopping him. Drew for the win! I originally suspected that Jester may get involved with this, seeing as he wasn't booked in a match at the time, and it would become a triple threat for the ICW title... and then this was announced...

Jack Jester vs Mark Coffey (ICW Heavyweight Championship Match)

It's champ vs champ! It's the reigning, defending ICW champion, Jack Jester, against the reigning ICW Zero-G, and REEEEEEAL ICW Champion, Mark Coffey. This is crunch time for Mark, who claims to be the rightful holder of the Heavyweight title. Even in defeat though, this match will show everyone why Mark Coffey will hold the big one for real in the near future. He's made to be a champion, and there's no way that it won't happen. Jester may be a bit out of his comfort zone, being an out and out hardcore wrestler facing off against one of the best pure wrestlers in Europe, but he's shown against the likes of Mikey Whiplash and Fergal Devitt that he can live with the most technical of them. Coffey to put up an admirable performance before being outdone by Jester's perseverance, and determination to take his corkscrew, sharpen it real nice, and remove Drew's stomach lining using it. Jester to retain, but Coffey to prove that he is a main eventer waiting to happen.

So guys, that's what's been announced so far, if there are any more matches announced before Sunday, I'll rattle them onto this, but I think there'll be plenty more to look forward to from this sold out show. Hopefully we see Joe Coffey vs Noam Dar round 3, to see who will take the edge in their best of 5 series. Maybe we'll eventually see Kenny Williams tell James R. Kennedy tae bolt tae fuck, and fly the nest to let the bollocks roam wild. Perhaps we'll even see Joe Hendry (GLOBAL HERO) get killed yet again off of Big Damo. Christ knows, but this is one show that should not be missed. I'll be there, so should all of you!

See yees on Sunday, ICW!

UPDATE: TWO MORE MATCHES ADDED... AND THEY'RE BELTERS.

Joe Hendry vs Damo vs Kid Fite vs Kenny Williams

This match will be to decide the number 1 contender for Mark Coffey's Zero-G Championship, and should be absolutely jam packed with action. Likely to concentrate on the ongoing feud between Damo and Joe Hendry, and Kenny's constant attempts to leave the shadow of James R. Kennedy's management, this will turn ugly very quickly, and it might just be that while the other three are more concerned with personally battering each other, it opens the door for Fito to take advantage and earn himself a shot at the REEEEEEAL ICW Champion.

Joe Coffey vs Noam Dar

I was holding out on this happening. Danny awoke me this morning and informed of this match, I slumped against the wall and thought to myself "mammy". After what's been called the match of the year in their first match in London, in which Coffey went 1-0 up, and Noam evening it up in Edinburgh, this is the third leg of their best of 5 series, and should be as good as it sounds on paper. If I had to choose, I'll say Noam takes the edge here, putting him in the driver seat in their competition. I just canny wait to see these two go at it in person, after hearing aw the good things about the first two matches. So aye, Noam to take this one!
