RAW Preview 14/7/14

By now, every wrestling fan on the planet knows about THAT tweet. That tweet that a certain legend sent out last week, simply stating a date. A date that has had the internet going into meltdown. That's right folks, if you believe the dirtsheets, tonight, on RAW, will accommodate the highly anticipated WWE debut of the legend that is STING.

We know that months ago, he signed with WWE on a Legends contract. We also know that WWE 2K15 will be released in the coming months, and if Sting really does appear, it's popular opinion that it'll be to promote himself as downloadable content on the game, that is, if he appears at all. Another idea running rife is that tonight is when WWE officially announce that there will be a DVD release of Sting's career, but by now, you'd have thought he'd have appeared a few times before now if that indeed, was the case. If he was to be a regular on TV, I'd love to see him being the GM of RAW. Apart from the long rumored Wrestlemania dream match between him and Undertaker, what else is there for him at the moment? But that's not the only big news coming out of the past week...

During a live show in Japan, WWE officially announced the signing of Japanese superstar, KENTA. Those fans familiar with Japanese promotions know Kenta is one of the best outright wrestlers in the country, I personally haven't watched that much of him but from what I've seen, he is a fantastic wrestler with a commanding ring presence. With him being added to the NXT roster to sharpen up his character growth and in ring work before being bumped up to the main roster, we can expect to see a lot of him in the coming months. They obviously think a lot of him, as the had his contract signing in the ring, with Hulk Hogan and "The Mouth of The South" Jimmy Hart seeing over proceedings. Expect this to receive a special mention on RAW tonight.

---------------------------------------

Let's begin with the scheduled main event for tonight: JOHN CENA, DEAN AMBROSE & ROMAN REIGNS VS SETH ROLLINS, RANDY ORTON & KANE. If you think this match will go off without a hitch and have a clean ending... I'm afraid I've got some baaaaad news. The term "lazy booking" comes to mind here. Lets have the two face guys from the upcoming fatal 4-way for the world championship team up with the greatest human on the planet to take on the two villains in the fatal 4-way along with the man who betrayed the greatest human on the planet and who also holds a contract for a world title match anytime he wants it. It's all connected. Illuminati. We all know deep down that this will be a spotfest, unless they just have Ambrose hurt Rollins in many ways with a microphone in his hand, explaining explicitly how each thing he does is particularly hurting Rollins. Lets do that instead. If I have to pick a winning team, it has to be the good guys, because why no?

Hopefully there is some further progression in the lead up to JACK SWAGGER VS RUSEV at the Battleground PPV. I loved Swagger's face turn a couple of weeks ago, and he has the fans firmly behind him. Unfortunately, because the filming was in Canada last week, the feud lost slight momentum because The Real American can't really play the patriotic card in front of non-American fans, cos that would make no sense. Hope to see some Zeb calling out the reliability of Lana's name, and maybe have Rusev looking strong going into Sunday.

It was announced during the week that AJ LEE would defend the Divas Championship against PAIGE at Battleground. All I can say is turn Paige heel tonight, and make the match a 30 minute iron man submission match. Do it.

There'll be plenty of build up to the Battle Royal for the vacant Intercontinental Title. There's plenty of people I'd like to see win that match, but besides me wanting DOLPH ZIGGLER to win with all of my heart, I can't help but think BO DALLAS is going to do it. He might not be as sharp in the ring as you'd want by now but his character is perfect and having a championship around his waist, it can only enhance his character development even further.

And finally, there will be plenty of promo time surrounding the match that has been set between BRAY WYATT and CHRIS JERICHO. You've got to respect Y2J for coming back, seemingly solely for this rivalry, as his tour dates with Fozzy have been released and he's on the road again no sooner than in a couple of months. Two of the best talkers we've ever seen will surely be involved in a war of words at some point tonight, with possibly a stipulation being added to the match. We all know Jericho has a good track record for putting new talent over (poor Fandango), so even if we're all 100 million percent sure that Bray will be victorious come Sunday, it doesn't mean we won't enjoy what's sure to be a storytelling masterclass from start to finish.

This has been a preview of RAW. Hope you all enjoyed. x
