How The Walking Dead Season 7 Should Begin!

It appears all the talk has been on the cliffhanger. Of course it is, it's a cliffhanger after all, it's supposed to have people talking. I've seen it mentioned a couple of times that it's taken the viewer out of the emotion of the moment, and it can certainly be said that that is true. So how do AMC pull the viewer straight back into the moment? This is my opinion on how season 7 of The Walking Dead should begin.

For me, the best way to instantly grip everyone would be to focus on the most likely suspects for who was killed off. To do this, the season premier opens with the intro, which is a retake of Daryl being shot, Dwight saying "he'll be alright" and then cutting to Daryl, Glenn, Michonne and Rosita in the van. We don't see this from a POV angle, and the light coming through the bullet holes in the van lets us see the faces of the four survivors, as they sombrely reflect on what they have to lose. The doors open. It then instantly cuts to Negan saying "I gotta pick somebody", it plays through eenie-meenie miney mo, only this time, it's entirely in Negan's POV, which I think would be an excellent way to capture the fear on everyone's faces, ending with who he picked. As he says "it", showing who will meet their end, the opening credits roll.

After the credits, Negan continues "... you can cry, hell, you're all going to be doing that" then we have the death in all of it's glory. Shot partly from above Negan and the victim and partly from in between them at the victim's level. Sad music plays as the camera slowly goes to each survivor, all of them traumatised and in total fear watching one of their own slaughtered in front of them. As Negan takes his final blow, the camera cuts to Rick. Terrified and raging, staring up at Negan. Then we have the first break. This is of course taking into account that they would have to push the usual first break forward from straight after the opening credits to the end of the death.

After the break, we see a birds eye view of the mess left by Negan, and the others mourning the death, as Negan leaves them to clean it up. Presumably, they'll make their way to Hilltop, where Maggie still needs help for the baby. I expect a huge fight between Rick and Jesus/Gregory because they never told anyone just how large the Saviours were as a group.

That's as far as I'm willing to go at the moment in terms of predictions, as I'll have a proper predictions post up closer to the time of the season premier. I will have a review of Fear The Walking Dead up after each episode airs, whether it be straight afterwards or perhaps the next morning. Until then though, make sure you never miss a post by liking the site's facebook page to keep up to date with everything. If you so wish, follow me on twitter @filthymcnastie and as always any and all feedback is appreciated. Leave your comments, share this post around, all the usual stuff. I really want to start doing a weekly Q&A on here so if there's something you guys want my opinion on or anything again leave a comment, drop me a message, tweet me, anything you want!

For now though, I'm checking out.
