ICW: Spacebaws Episode V - Bill Murray Strikes Back Preview

This Sunday plays host to the second show in the Spacebaws series. A wee project set up to showcase the young stars of the Scottish wrestling scene in front of the ICW faithful. Hopefully it lasts longer than seven shows, but I can see how issues may arise. There's only seven Star Wars films mate, canny start making clever show names which are a play on film titles that don't fucking exist. That wouldn't benefit anyone in any way. I missed the first one... for whatever reason. I can't remember exactly what happened at Brush Your Goose, never mind the reason I had for no going to the first Spacebaws show. Skint probably. Most likely actually. There won't be such issue this time around though, because it's my birthday ya filthy animals. Plus I surprisingly had cash left after I went Christmas shopping, which is fucking unprecedented. This card is lined up to be a belter, with some very nice looking wrestling matches, and we may be getting a surprise appearance or two. One of which may or may not actually be Bill Murray. Here's a preview of all that's been confirmed so far, and a couple of things that might also be happening. Enjoy.

Jamie Feerick vs Yum Yum

This was a bit of a mind-boggler when it was first announced. Dunno why, but for the first time in forever, I looked at an ICW match announcement and thought "...why?" Then I thought about it more, and I remembered that it's daft to ever question ICW matches. They'll always work themselves out in one way or another. The last time we saw Jamie Feerick in action at ICW, I believe it was during the Fringe run, when he ran into Chris Renfrew, who duly booted seven shades out of him. I don't really know a lot about him, and it should be interesting to see what he brings to the table in a match like this. Yum Yum has been keeping himself busy lately by being a constant thorn in the side of MmmmmmmJoe Hendry... no daein it. The guy has a big heart, and can more than handle himself with the best of the best, so Feerick may have his work cut out for him here. I reckon it will be an even match, but based on what I've seen so far, Yum Yum has to edge it. Will make for an interesting watch though.

Sammii Jayne vs Layla Rose

Yas yas yas yas. I love Layla Rose. She is of a rare breed of woman who is scary enough to make me shite myself whenever I hear or see her name, but at the same time I can't get enough of her. When you can make someone genuinely enjoy watching your work while fearing that there's a very real chance that their throat is gonny be ripped out at any second, you've got "it" nailed. I might be sooking up a bit, but mate. She's scary. Leave me alone. She's also very good at wrestling people, and takes particular enjoyment out of rag-dolling her opponents. At the inaugural event, what was originally a three way dance between Courtney, Lucy Cole and Emily Hayden got made a four way when Spacebaws GM Red Lightning decided that they were wasting an opportunity, adding Rose to the match, who made short work of all three opponents. Sammii Jayne is a talented wrestler as well though, and it would be unwise to count her out before the bell has even rung. As far as I'm aware, this is her ICW debut (correct me if I'm wrong), but having seen her elsewhere, she's no pushover, and will make for a tough opponent. She will be looking to make a name for herself against someone who seems unstoppable. It'll be no easy task, and for Rose, she may just be another Barbie waiting to be broken.

The Gatecrashers vs David The Beloved & ???

A long-running feud comes to a head when "Sensational" Christopher Saynt and his partner Dave Conrad face the team of David The Beloved and a partner of his choosing. The bad blood between Saynt and DTB has been building for a long time, with David The Beloved persistently slandering Saynt because of his sexuality. The Gatecrashers are one of the best tag teams in Scotland just now, and put up a great showing two weeks ago at ICW - Brush Your Goose, when taking Polo Promotions to the limit in a non-title match against the ICW Tag Team Champs. They couldn't quite get the job done that time around, but you've got to believe scoring a victory over Saynt's arch enemy would compensate ever so slightly. DTB has very little in-ring time to his name in ICW, but failed to make an impact when falling to Joe Hendry's Global Challenge at the first Spacebaws event. Hopefully we can see what he brings to the table here. As for his partner, your guess is as good as mines...

Polo Promotions (DCT & Jackie Polo) w/Coach Trip vs Sweeney & Solar

Sweeney doesn't care much for Jackie Polo. Or anyone associated with Jackie Polo. Or anyone, to be honest. After Solar put up a great fight against DCT at Fear & Lothian 2, Sweeney came out to stop a Polo Promotions beat-down, but only found himself on the receiving end of one himself. The original match here was supposed to be DCT vs Sweeney in a Tache vs Tache match, but it appears that card has been subject to change. This should be an entertaining number, with Sweeney's pursuit of making Jackie Polo perish seemingly still in full throttle, and Solar looking for some payback against the International Sex Hero himself. Expect many scoop slams, with a wee dash of Sweeney looking mean as fuck and hitting people really hard. If I was a betting man (which I am), I'd say that we'll see Solar doing many flips n stuff also. It'll be a jolly good time.

Lou King Sharp vs Chris Renfrew

Got to admire Lou King Sharp for his set of baws, but there's a good to likely chance that we'll see him die here. I hope not, because I love the wee cunt. He's quality at what he does, whether it be for a positive or a negative reaction. For his size, he can fair go as well. The only problem with that is Chris Renfrew can go anawl. Perhaps better than anyone in ICW, and Lou made a point of ripping the pish out him. At the first Spacebaws, Lou made his debut in a great effort against Renfrew, but ultimately came up short due to NAK interference. He called for a rematch, and he's got one - but with the mood Renfrew is in just now, it may have been the worst thing he could have done. He officially announced that he was cashing in his contract at the Square Go against Drew Galloway, and has taken the best (sorry BT) chops I've ever seen in my life off of Hardcore Holly two weeks ago. At the ICW Awards, he cut two scathing promos on the ICW champ, saying that he didn't choose to be at ICW, but Renfrew has been here the whole time Drew was in America, helping build a revolution. All he sees now is a Lou King Sharp standing between him and his big night in January, so you'd better believe he'll be looking to wrap it up as quickly as possible. Lou is a fighter though, and is as hard as nails. As Renfrew found out last time, you can't rule Lou King Sharp out of any match, and I'm going out on a limb to say that all our mothers' favorite wrestler may just sneak one here.

Kenny Williams (c) vs Joe Hendry (Title vs Career Match for the ICW Zero-G Championship)

So this will be brilliant. When you think of the topic of fast-rising young stars in Scottish wrestling, you'd be daft if Kenny Williams and Joe Hendry weren't two of the first names to come out your mouth. With the rivalry between these two stemming back to them being in the Kennedy Administration together, there is a lot of history here. With Hendry constantly undermining Kenny, until he won the Zero-G Championship at Spacebaws IV. Their feud seemed to have it's final match set when they met at Fear & Lothian 2, but Kenny retained after a fantastic contest. James R. Kennedy put his foot in it when he asked Kenny for one more match for Joe, and if Hendry is to lose, he will be gone from ICW. That of course got the rumors started about our Joe being on his way to NXT soon, but he has unfinished business here. He told us that he's going to win both of the titles (the Heavyweight and the Zero-Geeee) and I'll be surprised if he goes anywhere without winning both titles at least once. This will be better than the one in Edinburgh, for the simple reason that there's more at stake. They may have found a mutual respect for each other, and Hendry may have all but taken James R. Kennedy out of the equation, but with his career in ICW hanging in the balance, he has everything to lose. Two of the best in-ring talents closing a show like they should be doing, tearing the house down in the process. Yes, this will be lovely indeed. I expect Joe Hendry will win though,  because I'd hate to have ICW without his arrogant coupon floating around.

OTHER THINGS

- There will be a battle royal to determine who from the Spacebaws roster will receive a spot in the Square Go match. In this battle royal we can expect to see most of the guys already booked above, plus names like Saqib Ali, Switch, Tommy Marx, Lewis Girvan and plenty more...

- Lewis Girvan is still holding out on getting his match with ICW Heavyweight Champion, Drew Galloway. He laid out the challenge at Spacebaws IV, and has in the past few weeks attempted to goad Galloway into accepting his challenge. I can see Drew turning up personally, and the two of them putting on an absolute classic. Girvan is awfully good at wrestling you see, as is Drew Galloway. When two really good wrestlers have a wrestling match, they tend to turn out quite good. So we may have that to look forward to as well. I'm rooting for Girvan to get this match, because that video he made, trying to get 3MB back together had me in knots, and he deserves a match for nothing if not his dedication to the cause.

- Finally, this show has NOT sold out yet. There are tickets still available so if you haven't got one, I suggest you fix that immediately and help ICW see out 2014 in great style. Get a ticket, get to Garage, have a rare time. There will be a review of the show up sometime after the show has been put on ICW On Demand (which you can subscribe to now for the low price of £3.75 per month) and as always you can follow me on twitter here to see me rambling a load of shite about wrestling and The Walking Dead... and you like the facebook page right here for updates from around the mad world that is Scottish wrestling.

SEE YEES IN THE GARAGE FUCKERS.
