ICW: Helter Skelter Preview

It's almost the end of September which means it's almost October, which means it's almost time for Insane Championship Wrestling to embark on the Magical Mystery Tour. That means five shows, five cities, in only two weeks. Not for the faint-hearted. If you are someone who is going to all five of the shows, you have earned my utmost respect. Not only is this important as it is a UK wide tour, but also because these five shows are playing as the prelude to Fear & Loathing VII at the Barrowlands on November 2nd, the biggest night of the ICW year. Without any further ado, I'd better get straight into the first show... Another trip to Newcastle. Should be a belter.

ICW: Helter Skelter
5th October 19:00-23:00
02 Academy, Newcastle
Westgate Road, NE1 1SW

Mark Coffey vs Stevie Boy

The former Zero-G champ takes on the former Tag Team champ here in what will be a cracking match. Cases can certainly be made for both guys here, with Stevie perhaps smelling the blood off the back of Coffey's loss of the title to Kenny Williams, but I reckon that the momentum may come back to Coffey, who will surely now have his sights set on another Heavyweight Title match in the near future, and that will drive him towards overcoming the Bucky Boy.

Rampage Brown vs Kid Fite

This has the potential to be the dark horse of the night. I don't reckon big Rampage will take too kindly to Fito if he attempts to aim his baws in the general direction of his face. He's an angry big dude at the best of times, and not to mention... he's fuckin huge. Having seen him live a couple of times before, I can honestly say he's a scarily imposing guy. Remember though, a half burst Kid Fite insulted Big Damo into going through with a match against him, so bigger guys obviously don't bother him. Tough one to call, but I reckon it may be Rampage to get the W here.

Wolfgang vs Johnny Moss

A heavyweight battle here, as ICW's "Franchise" takes on "The Vigilante". Wolfy has a huge match against one Drew Galloway only a week after this show, so you must think he'll be looking to gain some much needed momentum, following another loss at the hands of BT Gunn at 1.21 Gigawatts. The aftermath of that match seemed to set up one final match between the two, hopefully at Fear & Loathing, so that will give Wolfgang even more motivation to pick up the win here. Mossy is a tough nut to crack however, and he'll be looking to get his first singles win since returning to ICW. Maybe he will through some NAK shenanigans. If there's no distractions though, Wolfgang must be fancied to gain the victory.

Joe Coffey vs Noam Dar

Yes. Again. This is set to be the fourth match in the two's best of five series. Yes, they have a high standard to live up to, but will they do it? Probably, aye. Hopefully the ring will stay in one piece for the duration of this leg. Then again, maybe they'll pull the 02 Academy in Newcastle down around about them. Who can tell? This will yet again be a fantastic match, as can only be expected from Coffey and Noam. As it stands, Coffey is 2-1 up in the series, so maybe Noam to level it up before the rubber match at Fear & Loathing? Aye, I'll go with that. Also, maybe Dar will play through on the heel turn that was teased at 1.21 Gigawatts, when it looked like he was going to cave Coffey's head in with a claw hammer. Or maybe sportsmanship and general pally-ness will be the theme throughout. I don't know. It'll be amazing. Ahhhhhhhh.

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs NAK (c) (ICW Tag Team Championships)

FINALLY. London & Kendrick. In a tag match. In ICW. One of my absolute favorite teams EVER btw. Probably my ultimate favorite. If there was a chance I managed to get to Newcastle next week, chances are I'll cry watching this match. As is normally the case whenever these two are together, you can be sure of two things. There'll be shenanigans aplenty, and this will be one hell of a wrestling match. NAK will prove to be tough to bring up off the tag belts, but if anyone should do it, it has to be these two. Please. My head says NAK must retain but my heart is screaming London & Kendrick. All I have to say about that. I'm a London & Kendrick fanboy. No shame.

Kenny Williams (c) vs "Party" Marty Scurll (ICW Zero-G Championship)

Kenny Williams makes his first defense of the Zero-G title after capturing it from Mark Coffey at Spacebaws. The match was already booked for this show, with the title stipulation added when Kenny won it. Again, expect nothing less than a fantastic match. Don't think there's much need to doubt Kenny here though, first defense of his title against someone making his ICW debut. Don't think there's much danger of him dropping it. Scurll will be a formidable first opponent for Williams' title reign, but The Bollocks should get the win.

Jack Jester (c) vs Big Damo vs Liam Thomson w/Carmel (ICW Heavyweight Championship)

Triple threat for the world title. Got to love a good triple threat. Good to see Damo in the world title picture because surely by now he's getting bored of just bursting Joe Hendry in various ways. Thomson is a bit of a surprise, but now that the mixed tag matches seem to have nowhere else to go, I guess the logical option would be to stick him in a title match. Both men must have a valid shout at winning here, but Jack Jester is not far away from the biggest match of his life against Drew Galloway at Fear & Loathing. Realistically, unless he drops it here, and regains it later in the tour, there's absolutely no chance of him losing this match. Personally I'd love to see Damo win this, because it'd be so unexpected and he'd make a great Heavyweight champ. But ah well, we'll see what happens. Jester to retain, and go on to reduce the Barrowlands to a heap of rubble with Drew Galloway.

Well there's what's been confirmed for the first show of the Magical Mystery Tour. As far as I know, there's still tickets available, so if you've not got one and are up for going to Newcastle, I suggest you get one soon. The following week sees a Friday, Saturday AND Sunday shot for ICW, so that'll be a hectic weekend, and chances are I'll preview them all at the one time. Maybe there'll be another match added onto this show, and in which case, I'll add it onto here. This will be a stoater of a way to open the tour, and here's hoping I come into a spare few grand to get going.
